Who are we and what do we do?

Ponoka and Rimbey Adult Learning Society is a nonprofit society funded by Alberta Advanced Education to serve Alberta residents who are adults. We are part of the Community Adult Learning Program (CALP) network and have over 100 sister sites throughout the province. We have been operating in our community for almost 40 years and are governed by a wonderful volunteer Board of Directors made up of local people who are passionate about helping their community members improve their lives through education. Their support ensures continued success in bringing learning opportunities to our community.

Our main goal is to help adult community members improve on the skills they already have or to learn new skills.

We do so by offering classes or working one-on-one with a learning coach, in a non-threatening, inclusive, and flexible learning environment, most often in literacy, numeracy, English language learning, or computers. We also offer continuing education programs through stewardship with Red Deer and Olds College and we host a variety of workshops and information sessions throughout the year.

We have an awesome partnership with Campus Alberta Central which has brought very successful post-secondary certificate and diplma programs to our Ponoka Learning Centre!
